George Crossfield is back with his set of weekly predictions for the Premier League! We are now almost halfway through the international break, with nearly only a week to go until the Premier League kicks off again with a set of intriguing fixtures, including Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur in a vital match in the title race, and Brighton and Hove Albion vs Southampton at the other end of the table. But who does George think will blow through their opponents, and who will “slump like a sack of potatoes”?
Fulham vs Manchester City (Saturday 30th, 12:30)
Fulham have much better than I thought that they would in their last two matches against big six opposition, limiting both Chelsea and Liverpool to narrow 2-1 victories. I can see them possibly drawing this one. I can also definitely see vulnerabilities in City. The last time they won a game by two clear goals without conceding in the Premier League was all the way back in early Feb, with that 6-0 battering of Chelsea. Since then, apart from the 7-0 thrashing of Schalke, they haven’t been convincing, both in attack and defence.
Their defence is not as good as it used to be, that’s for certain. Even against Swansea, a team not even in the same league as them, they are leaking in goals. Sure, the standard of the second goal was really high, but you should still be stopping that, especially if you’re City. And their attack is wasteful. They create really good chances, but they don’t use them. They have 20 or more shots in a match, but they only score one goal. And that’s not down to the opposition defence, it’s due to their attack lacking that final finish.
Still, I think that City will get past Fulham in this one.
George predicts: 1-2 to Manchester City
Brighton and Hove Albion vs Southampton (Saturday 30th, 15:00)
Both teams will have come into this match in good form, with lots of momentum and confidence. Brighton have definitely gotten over that poor patch, while Southampton are continuing their good record against Big 6 teams. But this is a massively important fixture for Southampton because if they lose this match, they would be 6 points behind Brighton with a game less played. So they absolutely need to win this match, and I think they will.
George predicts: 0-1 to Southampton
George predicts: 3-2 to Crystal Palace
Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth (Saturday 30th, 15:00)

Burnley vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (Saturday 30th, 15:00)
This is a really hard one to predict because Wolves are absolutely flying, while Burnley are on a bad run of form. It seems like there can only be one result, but Burnley are at home and they’ll give it a real go, since they are only just hovering above the relegation spaces and they desperately need some points. I feel like Wolves will be pushed all the way, and they could still lose this one: it could go any way.
I’m going with Wolves on this one.
George predicts: 2-3 to Wolverhampton Wanderers
Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Town (Saturday 30th, 15:00)
There is not absolutely no way that Huddersfield will win this one. Palace will be looking to bounce back from that defeat to Brighton, and this could be a hard fixture for them, with their inconsistent home form, and Huddersfield’s fighting spirit. This will be the banana skin fixture for Palace: they know they should win it, but they can easily slip up on this one. I don’t think they will, though.

Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth (Saturday 30th, 15:00)
Leicester. Without a doubt for me.
Bournemouth’s away form is still absolutely dreadful, even with that away victory against Huddersfield. And Leicester are in good form following the appointment of Brendan Rodgers. So this should be a very simple win for Leicester. They will absolutely blow through Bournemouth. 3-0 for me.

Manchester United vs Watford (Saturday 30th, 15:00)
Even with that loss to Arsenal for United, the Emirates is a difficult place to visit, and I think they will bounce back here. At home, their fans will be expecting a good win here, even though the match is against difficult against difficult opposition though. Watford have nothing to lose: they will try very hard in this one. Still, I think Man United will bounce back from their disappointing loss.

West Ham United vs Everton (Saturday 30th, 17:30)
Another tough one. Everton just aren’t good enough in matches like this: they hold Liverpool to 0-0 in the Merseyside Derby, then the next match they blow a 2-0 lead to Newcastle, losing 3-2, and then they beat Chelsea 2-0! West Ham at home will be looking to continue their good form and I think that they will. I specifically think that Everton will score first in this one, and then West Ham will come back. It fits: Newcastle came back 3-2 against Everton, while West Ham in their last match came from 3-1 down against Huddersfield to win 4-3. It’s ending level for me.
George predicts: 2-2
George predicts: 2-2
Cardiff City vs Chelsea (Sunday 31st, 14:05)
This prediction will no doubt shock many people. But I think that Cardiff will get the win in this one. They are good at home and are in good form, and they need to climb out of the relegation spaces. Chelsea are bad away from home, and the pressure on Sarri is rising once again. They won’t get top 4 now, with the form Arsenal are in. The focus is on the Europa League for them now. So I’m going for Cardiff.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday 31st, 16:30)
Spurs will slump like a sack of potatoes.
Their form has been absolutely terrible. They are away from home here, and I can only see one result here. Think about this: Spurs last won in the PL exactly seven weeks before this match will take place, and that was at home. The pressure will be on Liverpool to win this one, since Man City will probably be top by now, and I think Liverpool will respond well. Very well, in fact.
George predicts: 4-0 to Liverpool
Arsenal vs Newcastle United (Monday 1st, 20:00)
Newcastle last won away in 2018.
That statistic speaks for itself.
Arsenal are also on a roll, and the top four hunt is looking very bright for them. They should easily win here.
